Abstract

Kanker merupakan suatu kelompok penyakit kompleks ditandai adanya pertumbuhan dan penyebaran sel abnormal. Diperkirakan terdapat 19,3 juta kasus kanker baru dan hampir 10 juta kasus kematian akibat kanker di seluruh dunia yang terjadi pada tahun 2020. Luteolin merupakan suatu senyawa flavonoid yang dikenal karena aktivitas biologisnya dan manfaatnya bagi kesehatan tubuh. Penelitian menggunakan desain literature review dengan meninjau artikel berbasis penelitian 5 tahun terakhir, yaitu 2019-2024. Pencarian artikel melalui database elektronik yaitu Science Direct dengan kata kunci "luteolin" dan "cancer". Adapun beberapa peran dan mekanisme dalam berbagai jenis kanker antara lain dapat meringankan nyeri tulang yang disebabkan oleh kanker paru-paru, berpotensi sebagai agen kemoprevenasi dan kemoterapi kanker kerongkongan, menekan proliferasi dan metastase sel kanker payudara, menghambat stemness sel kanker ovarium, dan menghambat proliferasi sel kanker serviks. Luteolin dapat memberikan manfaat untuk mencegah atau mengurangi pertumbuhan sel kanker dengan mekanisme yang berbeda-beda. Namun, dosis luteolin supaya menghasilkan efek-efek tersebut tentunya tidak sembarangan dan berbeda tergantung dengan jenis serta tingkat keparahan kanker.
