Abstract

Kanker merupakan salah satu penyakit degeneratif yang menjadi penyebab kematian utama di dunia. Sel-sel kanker memiliki karakteristik unik seperti proliferasi tidak terkendali, metastasis, dan penghindaran dari sistem imun. Penanganan kanker umumnya dilakukan dengan kemoterapi, radioterapi, dan imunoterapi, namun memiliki efek samping yang merugikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji dampak positif resveratrol, senyawa alami, terhadap penyakit kanker. Resveratrol terbukti dapat menghambat perkembangan dan invasi tumor serta metastasis melalui penghambatan sinyal yang terkait dengan IMT. Resveratrol juga memiliki aktivitas antiproliferasi dengan menginduksi apoptosis pada sel kanker, sehingga dapat berperan sebagai agen kemopreventif dan terapeutik dalam penanganan kanker. Selain itu, resveratrol menunjukkan efek protektif terhadap efek samping yang ditimbulkan oleh kemoterapi. Dengan demikian, resveratrol dapat menjadi alternatif yang menjanjikan dalam penanganan penyakit kanker dengan efek samping yang lebih minimal dibandingkan pengobatan konvensional.
